Göran Winarve is this year's demo brewer

Of the well-known styles of farmhouse ale, gotlandsdricke is perhaps the hardest to actually find, even though it comes from our closest neighboring country. We are very pleased to have Göran Winarve at the festival to show how it is brewed.

Göran Winarve grew up on the farm Vinarve on Gotland in Sweden, and still lives there. He learned to brew from his grandma 40 years ago, and still brews in the same way. He estimates that he has brewed at least 20,000 liters of dricke in his life. Göran makes his own malt, from his own barley, in the old way, the way his grandpa taught him.

On the Saturday, Göran will demonstrate how traditional gotlandsdricke is made in the hall and answer questions. He will also have his own Gotland malt for sale, in case anyone is interested in buying some – payment will likely need to be in cash with Norwegian kroner.

We’re looking forward to this!
