A brewing day for women

The festival’s purpose is to pass on the brewing tradition to the next generation, but we’re a bit concerned that it’s mostly men who brew. That’s why we’re arranging a special brewing day Friday morning (11 AM-3 PM) just for women in the brewery of Stig Seljeset (Stalljen).

The brewing day will be led by traditional brewer Olav Sverre Gausemel (on the left in the photo), who has many decades of experience brewing kornøl and his own kveik . He will show how to brew kornøl the Hornindal way, with traditional equipment and kveik.

On the west coast, the tradition was that men did the brewing, but on the east coast it was the women. Now we hope to change that, and get more women to become traditional brewers and discover a rewarding hobby. Or just learn about brewing.
