Lecture on stjørdalsøl
Jørund at work in the malthouse.
On Friday at 21:00, Jørund Geving will give a lecture about stjørdalsøl, with the title “Stjørdalsølet - from grain to finished drink.” As you can hear, it will cover not just brewing, but also malting.
This talk will be in Norwegian.
Most people who’ve been to the festival probably know Jørund already, since he’s usually very visible in his Viking costume and equally sharp-witted, but we’ll introduce him anyway.
Jørund Geving is now retired, but by training is a graphic designer. He has worked with planning and interior design of bars and restaurant areas, including at Trondheim airport, Værnes. He likes working with wood and carpentry, and tries his hand at blacksmithing once a month. He’s married with three children.
He has been malting and brewing for nearly 30 years. With excellent results, we must say, having both won the Norwegian championship in grain ale and come in second place.
Jørund has also been strongly engaged in searching for Stjørdal’s original traditional yeast as a leader of the association Gjærkransen (so far without success). He also works with registering and mapping existing and former malthouses.
Jørund is also registered as a homebrewer, so there will be an opportunity to taste his products at the festival.
