The happy winner.

Jørund Geving from Stjørdal well-deserved won with his stjørdalsøl fermented with Idun Blå.

Judges’ assessment: “Fantastic, strong alder smoke aroma over a beautiful faintly acidic background of red berries. Excellent malt character. Juicy and warming in the mouth. Some peppery heat.

3. Jonas Svare and Eivind Ronold, raw ale with bog myrtle and #8 Tormodgarden

Third place went to an ale that stood out, with a light and light body, and clear notes of herbs. Judges’ assessment: “Light, delicate fresh and beautifully drinkable beer, with a very clear herbal signature that’s very carefully balanced. A “daring and fun” beer.

4. Torkjel Austad, raw ale with #18 Gausemel

Sigurd Johan Saure from Sykkylven took a strong fifth place with an extra strong kornøl at 12%, fermented with his own kveik, #8 Tormodgarden. Judges’ assessment: “Lovely combination of fruit and caramel, good and complex. Didn’t quite make it because the alcohol flavour bothered some of the judges.

Full results list

Here’s the full results list, with the judges’ scoring. The order of the first 5 doesn’t quite match the points, because the judges judged the final without giving new points. Instead they just agreed on the order.

The order of the ales that didn’t make the final is somewhat approximate and not fine-tuned by the judges.

The file below is all judge forms scanned as a PDF. Each form is marked with judge and letter code of the ale. The letter code for your ale you find in the table above.
